White Pigeons
I will wait for you here, outside Mount Sinai hospital
It gives me no olfactory pleasure
Sitting in those empty waiting rooms
Quiet, with that old man scent
I despise that scent
It reminds me of the day I was born
It reminds me of your pains
It reminds me of being
put in my place
Yes we are strapped
and we haggle for the dailies
you like a naked monkey pissing and shitting in a bowl
I the reluctant manchild still sucking from a womb
swirl it around in my mouth, yet
refuse ever to let reality's bitter chemicals parch my throat
No sweet there is today, no retribution
Only an old man sifting through the garbage behind Mount Sinai hospital
